FINAL FOUR INVITES CONFIRMED FOR ABERDEEN STANDARD INVESTMENTS LADIES SCOTTISH OPEN.

The Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open has confirmed past champion Scotland’s Carly Booth and fellow Scot, Michele Thomson, American Cheyenne Woods and China’s upcoming star Muni He as the sponsor invitations ahead of next week’s tournament at The Renaissance Club from 8 – 11 August.

Carly Booth, a former Ladies Scottish Open champion in 2012, is making her eighth appearance in the tournament having only missed the cut on one occasion. Booth, who is having a resurgence in form this season with four top 10 finishes in 12 starts, is chasing victory to put herself into Solheim Cup pick contention in front of Team Europe captain, Catriona Matthew.

Scottish compatriot Michele Thomson, who will be making her third appearance, has not missed a cut since March with a third place finish at the Investec SA Women’s Open her stand out performance of the season.

Joining the Scottish duo is Cheyenne Woods and 20-year-old Muni He. Woods, famously the niece of 15-time Major winner Tiger Woods, is a winner in her own right, capturing titles on both the Ladies European Tour and the SunCoast Ladies Series whilst currently holding an LPGA Tour card. Muni He is an LPGA rookie, having qualified through the LPGA Q-Series after a successful season on the Symetra Tour last year, making 16 cuts from 21 starts.

The four official invites complete the 156-player field competing for $1.5 million, which includes 14 major champions, 20 Solheim Cup players and six former Ladies Scottish Open winners.

Defending champion Ariya Jutanugarn returns to the East Lothian coast in fine form fresh from a runner-up finish at the Thornbery Creek LPGA Classic whilst 2019 major winners Jeongeun Lee6 and Hannah Green are set to make their debut. British favourites Georgia Hall, Charley Hull and Scotland’s very own Team Europe Solheim Cup captain, Catriona Matthew complete the line-up while Norway’s major winner Suzann Pettersen is due to make only her second competitive start since giving birth last summer.

Commenting on the news, Carly Booth, said, “I’m extremely grateful to Aberdeen Standard Investments and VisitScotland for giving me the opportunity to play in such a prestigious event in front of a home crowd. It means the world to me to play where I grew up and hopefully I can give them something to cheer about. I have happy memories of this event and I am hoping to use those to my advantage as a try and catch Catriona’s eye ahead of her team selection on Monday at Gleneagles.”

Speaking about her debut, Muni He, said, “I’m so excited to visit Scotland for the first time in my career and make my debut in an event of this calibre. Wherever you play golf around the world, everyone knows that Scotland is the ‘Home of Golf’ so I am glad to get the opportunity to play a links course and test myself in conditions that I am not used to. I’ve been practicing my low stingers ready for the wind.”

The tournament, which is co-sanctioned by the LPGA and Ladies European Tour, makes its debut at The Renaissance Club, on ‘Scotland’s Golf Coast’, just three weeks after the men and is the last qualifying event for Team Europe ahead of final selection announcement on Monday 12th August as well being the penultimate qualifying event for Team USA.

New for 2019, the tournament will host Ladies Day on Saturday 10th August and Solheim Cup Sunday. For more details visit – www.ladiesscottishopen.com
