THE RENAISSANCE WELCOMES BACK THE BEST GOLFERS IN THE WORLD
After three successful years at The Renaissance Club, the Genesis Scottish Open will once again be held at the East Lothian club in 2022.
Defending his title
The event will take its traditional pre-Open slot, from 7th to 11th July, when Min Woo Lee will defend his title.
“The Renaissance Club is a magnificent venue for a Rolex Series event, situated in a simply stunning part of the world,” said Keith Pelley, the European Tour’s chief executive.
Six in eight
This will be the sixth time in eight years that the Scottish Open has been hosted on Scotland’s Golf Coast. Gullane hosted the tournament in 2015 and 2018, and now the Renaissance Club has added its fourth year in a row.
Thanks to a strategic alliance between the PGA and European Tours, the Scottish Open is now a co-sanctioned event. The best players in the world will be able to compete for both FedEx and Race to Dubai points.
With the 150th Open being held at St Andrews the following week, and with a number of US based pros already talking about coming early to hone their links skills, it’s sure to be a fantastic field.
Open Champion made in Scotland
Last year’s Open champion, Collin Morikawa, was keen to point out that the Scottish Open helped prepare him for the challenge of Royal St George’s, “I’ve played in firm conditions. I can think of places I’ve played in tighter, drier conditions, but just having fescue fairways and the ball sitting a little different was huge to see last week.”
The Scottish Open is the first of two world-renowned Championship’s to arrive in East Lothian this summer. The AIG Women’s Open in August will be held at Muirfield for the first, as East Lothian welcomes once again welcomes the world’s best from the women’s tours.
We can’t wait to welcome back the golfers and the crowds in their numbers. This really is a Championship year in East Lothian. There is no better way to showcase the quality of golf and golf tourism in East Lothian.
