SCOTLAND’S GOLF COAST’S SELECTION OF COURSES IS PERFECT!

Eyemouth

Not wanting to wish time away, but thoughts head towards next year’s golf trip. September to January are historically popular months for advance bookings. Our hotels, resorts, bed and breakfasts and golf courses have already seen an encouraging number of golfers booking for 2025. It’s also no surprise to hear that enquiries have arrived for 2026 and 2027. Here are 15 reasons why your next golf trip should be to Scotland’s Golf Coast.

East Lothian and its Scottish Borders and Northumberland neighbours are an increasingly popular destination, so don’t be disappointed, make an enquiry, get a quote, check tee time availability, it’s NEVER too early!

The reasons why your next golf trip should be to Scotland’s Golf Coast: East Lothian, the Scottish Borders or Northumberland!

  • Scotland’s Golf Coast is readily accessible by road, rail, air and sea.
  • The closest of East Lothian’s golf courses (The Musselburgh) is just 20 minutes – and the furthest (Dunbar) only 45 minutes – from Edinburgh Airport. Meanwhile, Eyemouth is only an hour from Edinburgh, and just 90 minutes from Newcastle. The Northumberland courses of Goswick, Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh Castle are all within 50 minutes of each other and all are en route to/from the North Sea ferry at Newcastle.
  • In total, there are 25 courses along Scotland’s Golf Coast all within 100 minutes of each other – that’s a golf course every four minutes!
  • From Edinburgh Airport in the west to Newcastle airport in the south the A1 offers the perfect connection.
  • With North Berwick, Dunbar, Gullane, Aberlady, Eyemouth, Alnwick and Berwick all fun towns with plenty of places to eat and drink, base yourself in one, and no golf course will be far away.

Winterfield

  • Craigielaw Golf Club has its own Lodge accommodation, an 18-hole links golf course and Kilspindie as a close neighbour, just a Mickelson lob over the wall.
  • If you want to sample the Edinburgh nightlife, jump on the train at North Berwick (30 mins) or Longniddry station (20 mins) and you are there – and a taxi is no more than 30 minutes away from the majority of East Lothian venues.

And more….

  • Whilst in Northumberland, take in the castles of Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh, or take a walk to Holy Island.
  • Royal Musselburgh is 250 years old this year – 18 holes with a set of hickories is a memory waiting to be made.
  • Musselburgh Old Links is located in the middle of Musselburgh Racecourse. A birdie on the Friday, check the schedule for a flutter on the Saturday.Gullane
  • What do Luffness, Muirfield, North Berwick and Dunbar have in common? Old Tom Morris. Tick them off your list.
  • James Braid has had a hand in the creation of six of our courses – The Glen, Longniddry, The Musselburgh, Royal Musselburgh, Dunstanburgh Castle and Goswick.
