Northumberland is the natural gateway to Scotland’s Golf Coast. It is a little over 2½ hours between Newcastle and Edinburgh. This makes the 100 miles of coast and 25 courses ideal for either a long trip taking in all regions, stopping off when heading from one region to another, or a short break in either East Lothian, the Scottish Borders, or Northumberland.
Goswick Golf Club nestles amidst windswept dunes on a vast expanse of stunning Northumberland coastline overlooking the North Sea. Goswick is a James Braid masterpiece where golf is played as it was meant — on true links land in all its glory.
The first golf course appeared on the links of Embleton Bay in 1900, before being redesigned by the legendary James Braid. Dunstanburgh Castle is a traditional links course, where the wind direction change as the course bends around the bay and back.
With the backdrop of the Grade 1 listed 11th century Bamburgh Castle, the coastal classic, Bamburgh Castle Golf Club is one of the most scenic in Britain. The views extend past the castle to Lindisfarne, the Cheviots and the North Sea.
Established in 1869, steeped in history, Alnmouth Golf Club is the 4th oldest golf club in England. The course overlooks the splendours of both Foxton and Alnmouth Bay on the Northumberland coastline, which is in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty.
